Château de Scandaillac
History
The naine Scandaillac or Escandaillac indicates that in Roman times there was probably a castrum candil-la on the hill keeping watch on the roads through the region (from Périgueux and heading on past the Church of Lugagnac).
Château de Scandaillac dates black to the 13th century. It was extended and fortified with a keep. walls, moat and drawbridge.
n the Renaissance, two main buildings were rebuilt. At the end of the 16th cen-tury, the interior courtyard was adorned with a magni-ficent gallery comprising a port ico and five arches, and with five mullion and transom windows sepa-rated by fluted columns on the first floor.
